Horsfall House is an award winning, not-for-profit Nursing Home with a thriving Day Centre and Home Care service based in the Cotswold town of Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire.
We deliver outstanding care for both the physically infirm and those living with dementia and severe memory problems as well as offering Palliative Care, Respite and Short Breaks. Every area of our home has been designed and built with residents and visitors in mind, with the aim of making the transition into care as easy and stress free as possible.
Through our Day Centre and Home Care facility we offer a number of services for those still living at home, including a unique Meals on Wheels service in Minchinhampton.
All of our care is administered by highly trained staff with an ongoing commitment to training and personal development, an important aspect of Horsfall House.
About the Role
The Fundraising and Engagement Officer will play a vital role in supporting the delivery and execution of Horsfall House’s fundraising strategy. This role involves working closely with the CEO to ensure smooth administration, excellent supporter care, and efficient execution of fundraising initiatives and campaigns. The Fundraising and Engagement Officer will assist in creating meaningful relationships with supporters and volunteers, ensuring the success of the charity’s fundraising efforts.
Main duties and responsibilities
Fundraising and engagement
- Support the CEO in the implementation and delivery of a fundraising strategy.
- Research companies, Corporate Foundations/Charity of the Year partnerships, trends and relevant business news and proactively feed into the pipeline of prospective corporate partners.
- Support the development of high-quality, accurate and compelling funding proposals.
- Manage relationships with existing corporate partners through regular updates, reports, and stewardship activities.
- Provide monthly reports on performance, reporting on income, activities and engagement.
- To maintain, monitor and develop a programme of appealing and creative fundraising activities and tools to engage supporters to fundraise on behalf of Horsfall House.
- To maintain, monitor and develop an events calendar of activity. Being accountable for compliance including Health and Safety, delivery of all aspects of the event on the day and post event.
- To recruit, train, manage and motivate fundraising volunteers and groups to deliver community fundraising activities and events.
Social Media, in conjunction with the Social Media specialist
- Create relevant content for posting on Horsfall House social media accounts.
- Respond to comments and encouraging engagement.
- Proactively grow our audience, reach and engagement.
- Monitor and report on activity.
Website, in conjunction with our website administrator service
- Regularly updating Horsfall House’s websites with quality, timely content ensuring information is easy to fin.
- Seeking to increase traffic to our website.
Other Duties:
- Acting as an ambassador for Horsfall House raising awareness of its charitable aims and objectives.
- To contribute to Horsfall House fundraising aims by raising awareness with your stakeholder groups about how vital fundraising is to the charity’s mission and sharing opportunities for fundraising support.
- The post will involve travel to meet with prospective and current supporters and for networking.
- Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events and fundraising activities will be needed.
- Be aware of, and work within, the appropriate legislation and fundraising best practice.

Person Specification
Experience
- Experience of fundraising/account management, customer service or sales.
- A sound knowledge, understanding and be able to evidence building successful community engagement to stimulate fundraising activities.
- Experience of developing and managing an events portfolio.
- Proven track record of meeting targets.
- Experience of developing and implementing donor stewardship/customer relationship building- putting the supporter journey at the heart of strategy.
- Knowledge of fundraising regulations and best practice as well as relevant legislation.
- Good knowledge of budgets and experience of reporting on financial performance.
- Experience of using digital techniques to increase engagement.
- A good working knowledge of GDPR.
Skills
- Able to demonstrate project management skills and successful execution of campaigns, events and initiatives
- A creative thinker who can articulate compelling and persuasive cases for support to prospects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with and motivate a wide variety of prospect groups.
- Good administrative and organisational skills, with a high-level of attention to detail and ability to meet agreed deadlines.
- Good time management skills and able to manage a busy and varied workload with minimal supervision.
- IT literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, Office 365) with experience of using databases.
- A proactive approach to thinking creatively around fundraising.
- Able to adapt to different situations and tasks, remaining calm under pressure.
- Ability to network effectively internally and externally.
- An excellent team player with a positive, reliable, flexible ‘can do’ approach to work.
- Available to attend evening and weekend events as required.
