About the role/job purpose

The Business Development Assistant provides day-to-day support to the Business Development team. The role helps with sales activity, marketing tasks, communication with partners and the coordination of administrative duties That will drive Our sales and marketing initiatives. It is designed for someone who is keen to learn and develop experience across business development and account management.

Role Summary

This role supports the smooth running of the department by assisting with venue research, canvasser coordination, basic marketing tasks and maintaining records. The post holder will help the team work effectively with local businesses, partner charities and community organisations. Full training will be provided across all relevant areas of the organisation – this is a role where to develop a broad set of skills.

Role Responsibilities

Corporate Partner Account Management

  • Support relationships with local businesses through follow-up calls, emails and enquiries.
  • Keep contact records accurate and updated in line with HLP procedures.
  • Assist with preparing information packs, meeting notes and updates for partners.
  • Ensure partners are kept up to date with the latest information and marketing materials.
  • Help build connections by attending local networking sessions when required.
  • Collect feedback from businesses and community contacts to support planning.

Sales Support

  • Research local venues and events suitable for canvassing.
  • Update the venue diary and confirm bookings with venues.
  • Support the scheduling of canvasser activity and ensure information is shared clearly.
  • Keep sales trackers and spreadsheets up to date, checking accuracy.
  • Help prepare sales materials and organise canvasser resources such as ID badges, uniforms and point-of-sale items.
  • Assist at events by handing out materials, answering queries and helping promote lottery products.
  • Provide reports or summaries for the team when asked.

Marketing

  • Support marketing tasks including preparing posters, leaflets and distributing materials.
  • Help maintain brand visibility by ensuring marketing materials are placed in venues.
  • Assist with gathering content for community updates, social media and PR activity.
  • Carry out simple research into new marketing opportunities or potential corporate partners.
  • Help coordinate targeted campaigns by preparing documents and supporting organisation.

Charity Partner Collaboration

  • Assist communication with partner charities by preparing updates, sharing information and arranging meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of charity partner contacts and activity.
  • Support the Partner Engagement Programme by coordinating materials and helping with administrative tasks.
  • Attend partner meetings when required to take notes or prepare simple information.
  • Support joint initiatives by gathering venue information, distributing materials and providing general assistance.

Other Duties

  • Attend internal and external meetings as required.
  • Carry out reasonable tasks to support the work of the Business Development team.
  • Regular travel within the catchment area to engage with venues, businesses, and partners.
