About the role

This is an exciting new management role, critical to our small charity’s plans for growth. As Public Fundraising Manager you will plan and deliver supporter engagement plans to strengthen and grow our supporter journeys, income and membership in support of the charity’s mission to connect people with nature and drive conservation impact. This new role will work alongside the Project Development Manager who i s responsible for developing a strong pipeline of fundable projects from sources such a s project income, grants and restricted funding bids.

This is a practical, hands-on role, managing a small team responsible for generating significant income growth and building supporter relationships. You will both shape plans with your small team and personally deliver part of the activity. You will lead on challenge events and community fundraising, individual giving, in memory and legacy fundraising

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver short, medium and long-term public fundraising plans and budgets, monitoring income and expenditure
  • Champion the growth of long-term sustainable income
  • Lead individual giving activity, including online appeals, with a strong focus on stewardship, embedding a clear strategy for acquisition, retention and lifetime value growth
  • Develop and deliver high-quality, creative and effective new fundraising products and initiatives, and drive forward innovation in public fundraising
  • Optimise third party and online fundraising channels
  • Lead the legacy programme, embedding gifts in wills messaging across the organisation
  • Manage and develop the challenge events portfolio ensuring excellent participant stewardship and maximum income
  • Lead on the management and development of the database for Fundraising, including GDPR
  • Ensure all supporter records are kept up-do-date on the database and adhere to all relevant legislative and regulatory obligations relating to fundraising
  • Grow year on year supporter income, in line with agreed budgets

Person Specification

  • Raising income from individual giving and one of community & events or legacies
  • Delivering large scale complex fundraising campaigns that recruit, engage, inspire and retain donors
  • Strong relationship building skills with high emotional intelligence
  • A creative, growth oriented and commercially minded approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including crafting compelling impact stories
  • CRM experience
  • Line management experience (formal or informal)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional time management within a dynamic environment
